Giveaway: Pizza By The Slice… Yes, please.

In honor of my impending doom awesome long-term stint as a single parent, I’m trying to do some simplifying alongside of finding time to get my butt in shape.  My current biggest problem is that my adorable son loves pizza almost as much as his mommy.  And if you know me at all, you know that my number one goal in life is to have a happy son.  So when Freschetta sent me a handy-dandy interlocking tupperware-ish set (Can I call it that? Everything that snaps shut and is plastic is Tupperware in my world. Sort of like everything I blow my nose with is Kleenex.) along with coupons for free pizza, I was all “Um, yes please?”  My happy response was two-fold; I love tupperware almost as much as I love pizza.

But here’s the thing… pizza does not love me.  It gives me heartburn and worse than that, it gives me a bad case of expanding mom butt.  So what was super awesome about this deal was that it was for Freschetta’s new By The Slice.  Yeah… you heard that right.  Pizza by the slice.  No more cook the whole pizza and Oooopsy! I ate it all because it was totally a freezer pizza and those don’t really count, right?  And bonus being I can now give J a slice of pizza without Momma feeling like she needs to one gulp the rest of the pie.

What's with the tiny-ness, Momma?

You’ll note that he looks concerned.  This may have been because Momma was taking pictures of him eating but was probably because he doesn’t like it when I cut up his food.  (But I had to cut it up because I *needed* to try it and he wouldn’t eat it if I took a big bite out of it.)
The pizza itself was good but then I am a big fan of Freschetta pizza.  My concerns were more about the packaging.  There is only one slice in the box which is sort of annoying as a mom with a small freezer.  It means that I have to think ahead on buying a slice of pizza.  I can’t just stock the freezer with a few of these bad boys because they take up a lot of space in their one box/one slice glory.  Nonetheless, J loved it and that’s the most important thing for me.  If I’d cooked a whole pizza, we both know I’d be sitting here stuffing it in my face like there was no room for leftovers in the fridge.  As it stands, I managed to avoid having any more than one bite, which is pretty much miraculous where pizza is concerned.

Freschetta by the Slice comes in 4  flavors:

  • BBQ Recipe Chicken
  • Chicken, Spinach, & Mushroom
  • Six Cheese Medley
  • Vegetable Medley

Good luck finding all those flavors… my grocery store only had the six cheese, but that was fine with me.  I’m always wary about frozen veggie pizzas for some reason. Probably because I’m weird.

Now here’s the fun part…

Freschetta is offering to send one of you awesome readers a coupon for a free By the Slice Pizza and a sweet set of interlocking tupperware!  All you have to do is check out their site here and tell me in the comments which pizza you would like to try and why Pizza By the Slice is, in general, on your list of things you’d like to try.  I’ll pick a winner on Friday, May 6th at 8am!

And if you don’t trust me, trust J… the pizza is good. And the interlocking set? Well, he carries that around like it’s his own personal briefcase.

So. Good.

What a great idea! As a single mom with not a lot if time (& let’s face it, I *hate* cooking), I make frozen pizzas often. I love this idea of single slices because otherwise the kiddo eats one slice and I eat the rest…ugh. I’d love to try the vegetable medley. I’ve tried freschetta before but haven’t had that kind yet. 🙂

I would LOVE the six cheese medley. It would be great
For nights when we get a babysitter or when Dad is out of town. Of course, my two kids, unfortunately, don’t leave any pizza for me.

I would absolutely love to try Pizza By the Slice, but not just for me. It’s for the children. For weeks now, my two young boys have been deprived of that perfect slice of hot, delicious pizza with the melted cheese that seems to stretch for miles before finally breaking. My wife has acid reflux and a hiatal hernia and cannot have acid foods, such as tomatoes. Everyday ,or so it feels, they ask “Can we please, mother dearest, have some pizza?” And each time we have to look into those big, blue, sad eyes and say “No.” But now they can enjoy their own Pizza By the Slice. And the two most wonderful boys in the world can have their own slice of pizza without their loving mother having to buy a whole pizza and suffering from not being able to eat the slices that go uneaten. Thank you FRESCHETTA.

P.S. The boys say they love cheese pizza. So they would love to try the Six Cheese Medley. I, on the other hand, am more adventurous and would like to try BBQ Recipe Chicken.

I’d love to try these for lunch at work! The cheese, veggie & chicken/mushroom sound good to me.

I think the chicken, spinach and shroom looks really yummy!!! I can see the individual slices work for us in a number of ways. I crave pizza like nothing else, but I too am trying to make my butt shrink instead of expand. One slice when the craving gets killer would be so much better than ordering Pizza Hut at 11pm and scarfing a whole pizza!! Also, because we homeschool, my kids often eat at different times. My oldest, 11yo son, is very kitchen efficient, and it would be so awesome if he could save me a few steps in my day by just popping one of these babies in! Awesome!! (Also, I too am a Tupperware addict – and even butter or Cool Whip containers are considered Tupperware in my house – and I even sold it for years LOL)

Six Cheese Medley for me. Although, honestly, the veggie medley looks pretty darn good. It’s cool because like you said instant portion control. Also, my husband and I can have the pizza we want and not have to settle for what the other one wants!

I would love to try the chicken, spinach and mushrooms. I love not feeling like I need to eat an entire pie and hence a million calories.

I would like to try either the BBQ chicken or the 6 cheese. Probably would just pick up both if I came across both in the store! 🙂 These would be great the nights my husband has classes at night or I need a quick lunch at home. I would have never thought about giving this to my son for dinner. That’s a great idea too.

The BBQ Recipe Chicken sounds yummy! I think Pizza by the Slice is a great idea for the same reasons you listed LM! We can still give our kiddos a slice of pizza (and maybe have 1 slice ourselves), without inhaling the rest of the pie… not that I’ve ever done that….:)

I end up putting on my own toppings so I’d stick with the cheese 🙂 As for the tupperware, I’m in some desperate need now that I’m making stuff for a newly widowed neighbor (his wife was the cook) and all my tupperware is now in his freezer/fridge.

Cheese pizza for us please! Because then my kid who doesn’t like to eat anything can at least have a slice of pizza for dinner without us having to shell out $26 for Papa Johns to bring us pizza 1.5 hours later.

BBQ Chicken Pizza is one of my favorites, and I would love the option to get cheese for my boring husband and kids, while giving myself the chance to spice things up a bit!
And interlocking tupperware is just genius. It not only stores food, but is currently my 1-year old’s favorite toy. And not too far down the list for the 2 year old.
    Thanks!

My 2 year old son would love the 6 cheese pizza and it would be perfect for the nights I get home from work and am trying to fix dinner and he has to have dinner right then!

I’d love to try the 6 Cheese Medley or the Chicken, Spinach & Mushroom! Yum!

I would LOVE to try Pizza by the Slice because I typically choose to eat frozen pizza on days where my husband is not home for dinner. I never eat the whole pizza, so this would allow me to just take out the number of slices I want to eat without wasting any! Great idea!

I’d love to try the 6 cheese! With 2 kids it sounds like a quick easy meal for nights when we’re on the go!
