I can’t remember the last time I felt this rested and relaxed.
I haven’t been “forcing” myself to write on this blog, I haven’t been pushing myself to do more and be more at work, I haven’t been burning the candle at both ends in any realm of my life and MY GOD it feels good. You should try it. 😉
My family goes to the beach every year for the fourth of July and we stay for a week. This year, I left work early on Thursday and drove down, arriving about six o’clock on June 27th. My parents were already there when I arrived and my brother came on the 28th with my sister and her family joining us on the 29th. I didn’t leave until July 5th.
You read that right.
I just went on an eight day vacation.
And you know what I did?
J and I got up in the mornings, and he played with his cousins while my sister and I went for a run. Then we slipped into bathing suits and spent several hours on the beach. Then we showered and had lunch followed by “mandatory rest time.” Some afternoons we went back on the beach, some we didn’t. I read nine full length novels. I ate fresh seafood and fresh fruits and vegetables that my sister cooked and I was in bed no later than nine o’clock every single night.
To say that it was the most glorious of glorious vacations would be an understatement. It was precisely and exactly what I needed to feel rested and ready to resume my life… the real one, where I never read, hardly ever cook, and yes… burn the candle at both ends. I’m back in my office this morning, surrounded by mail and papers and all the things that piled up while I was away and I really don’t even mind. I am that rejuvenated.
Hope you all had or have relaxation weeks in your lives, too! For now, it’s back to the grind….
