More Reasons to Donate

Posted on | August 13, 2010 | 8 Comments

Next weekend, my son turns one. And if you’ve been reading for a while, you know that in honor of his first birthday, I’m hosting one. Big. Giveaway.

What you may not know is much about what you can win just for a wee donation to a family that could use your help to fight a pretty difficult fight. You can read more about their fight by clicking here.

I don’t necessarily want to talk about the Grady’s today, though. I want to tell you why you should donate OTHER than the obvious reasons. I’m talking about the GOODS.

Let’s start with one of my all time favorite people… the lovely and talented Tina Tarnoff. You may remember that I posted about her fantastic necklace when I first discovered her on Etsy. To fully appreciate her, I feel like you should see the gorgeous piece she has donated to one lucky winner.

You want it, don’t you. I don’t blame you. I kind of want it, too… and I already have one! She’s amazing and trust me when I say that you will NOT be disappointed by her work.

And one of the other goodies is something I wish I’d had when J was younger and something I will DEFINITELY have if/when we have another baby. Being a working mom is tough… and it’s harder when you get dressed only to find that your adorable little joy has spit up all over your work clothes. The wonderful folks at Yes, Sarah have come up with a solution that is not only practical… it’s gorgeous.

What you can’t see is the oh so soft underside of this cloth. I want to cuddle with it to go to sleep… it’s just so, I don’t know… elegant. And simple, too. You just velcro it across your shoulders and you’re good to go!

Also from my own little pocket change, I’m throwing in a $25 gift card to Gap and a $15 gift card to Starbucks. Plus, I will splurge on my new favorite way to blow a diet, Two Smart Cookies, and  a dozen cookies of your choice right to your house! Can’t beat that, right? Check out their flavors and die a little.

These are just a few of the MANY reasons you should donate just $5.00 to help a family that could really use the smile. Want an extra entry? Post below and tell me which of these you most want to have in your grubby little hand. Remember, for every $5 you donate, you get a chance to win. But if you’re low on the moolah, posting here will net you a second (or first) chance. There are some really fantastic goodies, and J is really hoping his birthday gift to the Grady family will be one they’ll remember.

So reach deep, comment often, and let’s celebrate J’s birthday for another week and two days! All weekend I’ll be spotlighting other prizes up for grabs, so stop back in and don’t forget to click below to share a little love, and to join the fight against Batten Disease.

I would be thrilled with the Gap giftcard! I'm pregnant with my second and need new maternity clothes! Also on the pregnant note, those cookies would kick ass as well!

I'm a huge fan of Two Smart Cookies. I discovered them two seconds after coming to Savannah. Since then, they have been utilized for a corporate thank-you, party favors for three parties I've hosted, Father's Day and emotionally eating days that it's either drink or hit 'em up!

I would LOVE that gap gift card. Seeing that I am freaking broke and haven't bought anything for myself in about 12000 years.

    Yep, 12000.

Thus? I should SO win that gift card…just sayin:)

Hi, thank you for bringing these little boys' plight to our attention. I cannot even begin to fathom the hardship their parents are facing, it is inconceivable. Thank you for hosting the giveaway to raise money to help – it is very giving of you. I'd like to tweet about it regularly, which blog post would you like me to link to?

    xo,
